Summer adventures… had us a blast!

Summer adventures... happened so fast!
(quick name the musical! I know the words are exactly the same, but you should still be able to get it)

To me it seemed summer came and went quickly. But as quick as the days could come we planned adventures... let me share some of them with you!

June '09

May ended and June began with a special treat-- Megan, Perry, and Parker came to visit! We had a fun time going bowling, having dinner with friends, and watching Parker! One of the highlights for us was getting to go with them and our friend Eugene on a tour of the Oquirrh Mountain Temple.
Megan, Perry, and Little P at the temple!

Touring the Oquirrh Mountain Temple with friends and family was our somewhat regular summer adventure. We went in large groups and small groups, but no matter the number of people who were with us they were all people we love. And each time it was a blessing to be at this special and sacred place with those we love.

We got to tour the temple with Sarah and Trevor the same day we went with Megan and Perry. It was fun to make this a frequent activity.

I love to see the temple and be there with my eternal companion.

We enjoyed the cooler weather in June and celebrated TIM’S BIRTHDAY!

For Tim's birthday this year we went singing in the rain... well not literally, but we went to Singing in the Rain at Hale Center Theater in Orem!
It was an amazing show and we both thought the cast did a great job! I blindfolded Tim and tried to confuse him by driving around, but he was not fooled and repeatedly figured out where we were... and soon guessed where we were going... Oh well I tried. I have to say I am blessed to be married to such a wonderful, intelligent, and caring man! (Even if he is hard to surprise)

July ‘09

God Bless America… Land that I love!
To celebrate the Fourth of July we went on a grand adventure with my family. We went to the Black Hills in South Dakota or in other words to Mt. Rushmore! Neither of us had been there in a long time and it was great to go again, especially for this most patriotic holiday!

We spent the weekend camping with my Mom’s brothers and sisters and some of my cousins. There was great conversation, food, bike rides, and games.

One of the coolest things was our colored campfire for the 4th. Uncle Billy turned our campfire amazing colors with various items- for example copper pipes.

There are a few places in our nation that I think are special to be at for the 4th and Mt. Rushmore is one of them. #1 would be our nations capital; in really close 2nd is Philadelphia; I don't really have an order for the others, but they are Mt. Rushmore, Gettysburg and Boston. I have been to DC twice during the Fourth and in Philly once. To be at Mt. Rushmore was really neat.

It was a great firework show… from what we could tell. We stayed up all night before the show to get tickets into the park, we arrived and got great seats really close with the trees just below the faces, we talked and played card games, it was getting close to show time… and then the fog came…

So we saw Mt. Rushmore, heard fireworks, and watch the sky turn colors, but didn’t see fireworks at Mt. Rushmore!

We like to say it was the most expensive firework show we have been to... that went off, that we didn’t get to see. The video explains it all.

We loved our vacation!

And yes we did take people to see the Oquirrh Mountain Temple in July too!
Dad, Mom, Alex, and us at the Temple.

We started the last month of summer out with a visit from Billy (my friend from New Jersey)! Probably the most amazing things for him were the mountains! I love the mountains so we made sure to get a “hike” in when we went to Duchesne. We tried to show him the best of Utah and even got him up to Wyoming so he could cross another western state off his list.

Other activities included a tour of the Oquirrh Mountain Temple and Temple Square,
watching a small town parade, going to a rodeo for the first time, going to a county fair for the first time (they don’t have county fairs in Jersey)
a daring kayaking trip through the waves (Billy did great for his first time!),

Billy’s first smore, and close encounters with the wildlife (or tame pack horses and the cows at Tim’s ranch)!
